Under-evaluating yourself can result in never breaking through

It’s truly amazing how much a person can change within three short months.

For me, that change resulted in a brand new sense of who I was.

It resulted in a shift of how I perceived myself to be.

It changed my believe of what all I’m capable of accomplishing.

I feel like my whole life, I’ve spent most of the time in conversations with myself that resulted in criticizing me, putting me down and continuously asking myself why I wasn’t more ‘successful’ yet.

I know, I know…it sounds a bit extreme.

But it’s actually not as morbid as I make it out to be.

There were tons of times when I was grateful for everything I’ve achieved and who I was as a person.

I was – am – grateful because there is no one really like me, like you, like the person sitting next to you in that coffee shop.

However, I do want to focus on one particular aspect here in order to bring this essential point across.

So, stay with me.

Now, let’s continue…

At almost every stage of my life, I felt somewhat stuck.

I felt confused and lost.

I wanted to achieve more, always more.

I also wanted to give more but I wasn’t sure exactly WHAT.

Though, that wasn’t the worst part.

Do you know what was?

Finding out over these past three months and particularly while going on an extended trip through Europe and the U.S., that I was in fact capable of SO much more.

Why deep down have I always been so afraid and timid?

It’s a true miracle to find out that you are capable of achieving so much more once other people open up to you and are honest with you.

That is why I want to encourage you today to stop listening to yourself.

Yes, you read that right.

Stop listening to the voices in your head and their opinions of YOU.

Just once.

And just once, open your eyes and EARS and try to see and listen to how other people around you perceive you.

You will be surprised.

You will be fascinated.

In fact, I’m almost ready to bet with you that the surprise – of how much ‘better, stronger, more capable, smarter, etc.’ other people perceive you than you perceive yourself to be – will shock you even more then finding a secret ghost hiding inside your bedroom closet.

What is it about human nature that makes most of us undervalue ourselves and overvalue what other people are capable of?

That under-evaluation, misperception and complete lack of objectivity and self-awareness in who we actually COULD be if we just shifted the view we had about ourselves, baffles me.

It baffles me even more now that I have seen it hidden deep within myself – despite focusing on self-development for the past ten years and always trying to continue to stretch the confines of my comfort zone.

I want to encourage you to do the same.

I plead you to loose that negative self-image of yourself that you have right now in whatever specific area of your life.

It is THE single most important factor that decides if you become successful in any field – or not.

It really is just all about YOU.

Think about it.

Don’t just give it a fleeting thought but seriously go deep here and ponder on it.

Or, like me, go on an extended trip ;).

How do you really see yourself?

You, yourself.

And who are you really?

Objectively speaking.

The difference will be like a light switch that you flip around and that will turn on the ‘power of objectivity’ inside your mind.

And guess what?

Your heart and your newly found self-awareness will have brought you one significant step closer to everything that you ever wanted to achieve – and be.

The steps you need to build a funnel that converts?

As a digital marketer and online business owner, I continue to get asked the following question.

So, I thought it would be time to put together a little article on the subject matter at hand.

Without further ado, here’s a quick summary of the steps:

  1. You need the right funnel strategy.
  2. You need to invest time into learning how to actually use a funnel building software.
  3. You need to direct sufficient traffic to your funnel.
  4. You need a bullet-proof follow up strategy as to not leave sales on the table.

In regards to (1), how to come up with a good strategy?

a) Where are you at in your business right now and WHY do you want to create a funnel?

b) What is your CORE PRODUCT that you would like to offer?

c) Now, look at your market/industry and analyze your competitors. A great resource for me always proves to be Google as well as Similarweb.com – Digital World Market Intelligence Platform

d) Create a Customer Avatar and then, be sure to find out exactly if that Customer Avatar is your correct ‘ideal client’ by ASKING your Ideal Client (in like forums, Facebook groups or wherever else they hang out at) the right questions.

These questions depend on your CORE PRODUCT but can look something like this:

  • What’s your biggest problem when it comes to {fill in your industry}?
  • How would it feel like exactly if this problem would be gone?
  • Why do you do what you do? Why are you in business? Why are you trying to achieve XYZ?
  • How does your business look like within the next 3 months/6 months/1 year/3 years?
  • What are your biggest goals?
  • Etc.

e) Next, be sure to understand and pin-point the EXACT PAIN POINT your ideal client or customer is having and create a seductive BAIT for them in the form of a free offering.

d) Map out your funnel, decide on a funnel type that best fits your offer and get clear on your business’s overall value ladder.

In regards to (2):

In regards to (3):

a) Do you have an existing email list?

If your email list is under 1,000 and you don’t write your list regularly, focus on building up that list of yours! That should be one of your major focuses.

b) What’s your social media following like? Poor or rather strong?

→ If it is poor and you do not want to be active on social media (even though I can’t quite understand why), you gotta focus on PAID ADVERTISING.

→ If it is great (we are talking here of tens of thousands of ACTIVE followers), then you can wait on PAID ADVERTISING like FB ads and focus on ‘testing’ your funnel first with organic traffic.

Once optimized, you can then move on to scaling your converting funnel with PAID ADVERTISING.

In regards to (4):

a) This goes back to Point (1) when I mentioned the so-called ‘VALUE LADDER’.

If you’re clear on your value ladder and you’re investing all your time building up your email list, increasing your social media following and/or spending money on paid advertising, then you want to be sure to utilize income from the time you invested in these actions for years to come.

Right?

How do you do this?

You have to have future products in mind you want to sell to buyers who already bought from you.

Not only that, you want to have a ‘follow-up’ sequence in place.

b) You can also add people who didn’t buy from you or who did buy from you to a Facebook group and further nurture that blossoming tribe of yours.

Why would you want to do that?

To get people to further like and trust you.

If you earn people’s trust online and you provide great value through ALL your products and service offerings, you will have buyers, and even more important – fans for a lifetime.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, this is just a summary of the steps.

The Future Of Content Marketing

And why it still continues to be so important to create consistent high-quality content.

A lot of our clients at Funnel Gal have recently asked us about our take on content marketing since there has been some talk in the internet marketing industry that it has somewhat become too saturated.

Now, here is what I usually answer them and I thought it was so important for every (aspiring or experienced) internet entrepreneur to hear, that I wanted to take the time to create a blog post on it.

Just like with everything else, people in general buy from someone or from a company that they know, like and trust.

Unless, of course, you are planning on truly creating something disruptive and innovative that in itself will create an entirely new ‘category’ in a niche market – or the economy as a whole (!), you can NOT expect people to buy from you, or to turn them into your clients/customers, right away.

Let’s face it, there is sooo much competition out there.

Almost, for everything you might want to do or what market you want to grow your business in, there’s going to be hundreds of other people/entrepreneurs doing the exact same thing.

And that is actually not necessarily a bad thing!

Why?

Because that means that there is an already existing true market demand there for whatever it is that you are doing (or want to do).

However and now the question arises, how can you set yourself apart?

Really?

What can you do that makes you truly different, that sets you apart from your competition?

Well…the answer?

You have to literally put a ‘face’ for your ideal client/customer to your product/service/business!

A face that over time, people will get to know, like and trust.

How do you best achieve that?

By creating and sharing high quality, strategic content in whatever form you choose to share said content.

By opening up about what you are all about and what you truly have to offer to add value to other people’s lives.

And by also distributing your various content throughout the right distribution channels to your ideal audience.

There’s your sustainable long-term business right there ;).

 

How to drive traffic to your funnel if you’re just starting out and have no marketing budget yet for paid advertising?

Honestly?

“Duh,” you’re thinking.

Though, be prepared. You might not like the answer.

If you’re not at that point yet where you can utilize paid traffic, you gotta…

Yes, you guessed it.

Hustle.

There’s no other way around it.

Stop looking for a shortcut.

You gotta put your funnel in front of the eyes of your funnel’s ideal audience.

Which means that if you can’t utilize paid traffic YET (we’ve all been there at the beginning!), you’ve gotta invest the time to CONNECT with people!

How do you do that?

Well…a few creative ways to drive traffic to your funnel organically are:

  • Content swaps (where you write guest posts for another blog) – Be sure to pick a blog that has good site traffic. If the blog has a site traffic of 1,000 unique hits per month, your article obviously wont be getting a lot of exposure at all. You can check a sites traffic stats at: https://www.similarweb.com/
  • Joint webinars (where you share the leads) that you promote on your social media platforms – People love a good partnership.
  • Get your P.R. game going on strong – Try writing for the Huffington Post or any other prestigious online magazine or blog. It can change your life.
  • Affiliate promotions – You have the content/product/service? Find someone that is missing that but has the social media influence and work out a deal with them.
  • Cold email contacts on Linkedin (yep, you’ve heard me say that but wait…) – It’s a long shot but if you’re great at writing engaging emails, it’s a good shot and you will find yourself connecting with very interesting international professionals of all walks of life.
  • Collaborative ebooks, free products, free email courses, workshops, etc. – Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate is the key (ever heard of Coldplay’s collaboration with Rihanna?).
  • Interview swaps – Got a podcast? Interview me? I’ll interview you. See where I’m going with this.
  • Run Giveaways with other entrepreneurs in your market – It doesn’t have to be physical giveaways, digital ones work great as well. The most important thing here is that they are perceived to be valuable to your market/audience.
  • Utilizing the simply awesome power of Facebook Groups. One of my favorite ones that is filled with awesome people is the one I am currently running #selfpromo ;), called: https://www.facebook.com/groups/socialmediafunnelhacks/

A Word On Facebook Groups

How many Facebook Groups are you a part of?

Let’s be honest.

5? 
10?
20?
38?
Over 200!?

{Comment with your number #️ and you’ll be surprised at all the big numbers from your fellow blog readers}

You see, I know…

I’ve been a Facebook Groups owner for close to 2 years now.

Heck, I’ve ran 4 different Facebook Groups in the process and have been a moderator in a few more.

And guess what?

On average, people that have joined my groups or the ones I have moderated for have belonged to at least 38 (!) other groups.

That’s on average.

Do you know what that means?

A lack of FOCUS.

Not only that?

There’s something else I want to address in here.

But let’s stick with the lack of focus part of this post for a second.

How much time do you have available each day?
And how many of the Facebook Groups you are a part of are active (meaning the group admins are doing a good job in keeping the group alive)?

There will be about 2-5 pretty active ones from the like 38 you’re a part of.

If you just hop into those groups, read random posts and than fall victim to scrolling down the Facebook Groups content heaven…
Well, you pretty much lost focus.

Not only that, there is another phenomenon that I’ve been witnessing.

A lot of the times (and this is especially true for fellow Facebook Groups owners) you start feeling sort of discouraged .

You continuously monitor and almost ‘stalk’ other groups, group admins and active members of groups (yes, I said stalk lol!)…

You keep reading about the process people are making and the successes they’ve seen…

You keep reading about the money they earn, the Huffington Post article they are going to publish, etc., etc.

All the while you are stuck in your little office – wherever that might be – on your computer or laptop feeling…well, down.

WHY?

Because – honestly – you focus too much on WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING.

So what is the SOLUTION ?

Leaving all those group?
Not necessarily.

Let’s focus on the essential…

Which is…

Turn OFF the notifications to 99% of the Facebook Groups you’ve joined in your lifetime on Facebook.

Only continue to leave on the notifications or stay a member of 2, maximal 3 (!) Facebook Groups and even then, monitor your time.

I would still suggest you to turn off all recommendations even to those top Groups but instead,

Put them onto the SHORTCUTS section of your Facebook dashboard and check in to see what’s new in the groups a few DESIGNATED times per week – not more.

You will be amazed at how much more focus, time, energy and inspiration you can draw from focusing on your own stuff!

Especially, once you’re able to start seeing the growth, you will continue to be doing this.

Don’t feel down anymore.

WE ALL PROGRESS AT OUR OWN PACE 🐯.

Focus on yourself more.

This will also help you be more authentic.

Because the more group admins and people you follow inside those groups,
The more you unconsciously copy what it is that they are doing without listening to your INSTINCTS and sharing with us a part of YOU.
