5 steps to figure out which funnel software to use for your business

Choosing a funnel software seems to be one of THE biggest decisions on most online entrepreneurs and businesses’ minds.

Though the decision is actually a rather simple one. It shouldn’t be overcomplicated.

The thing why I think so many business owners and freelancers struggle with this is because so many funnel softwares are marketed seriously to no end.

And it does make sense! They are in the business of bringing more business to businesses. So, logically, they – too – would need to make sure they are showcasing that they are growing their business through marketing.

My team and I wanted to get on the bottom of this though and really research some of the most popular and widely used options out there.

We’re going to give you a fair breakdown of each of them and also, will let you know from the many that we’re using to help our clients maximize their marketing needs (such as HighLevel, Clickfunnels, Kajabi, etc.), what we’ve found to make a funnel software possibly stand out for you to some others.

Because at the end of the day, that’s really what it’s about.

Before you even look at funnel softwares, do this:

Take a pen and paper or, open up a fresh Google Doc file and write down the answers to the following questions:

Working on laptop

(1) You look at your business and take inventory of it.

(2) You figure out your MAIN PURPOSE of WHY you want to use a funnel software – is it for lead generation or course/product sales? Do you need CRM integration as well or automated text messaging for your business specifically (that depends on an industry and its target audience as well)?

(3) How big are you planning for your business to grow? What are the KPIs of the next few months for it?

(4) What softwares are you already using that NEED to be integrated?

(5) Jot down anything else that comes to mind such as, teachers or mentors you admire and follow and which funnel software they use. Or courses you’ve taken that have used XYZ software and you’ve really enjoyed the user-friendliness of that one, etc. You get the point, I’m sure.

Okay, now that you’re done taking inventory of your – or your client’s – business, it’s time to make that decision!

Quick important backstory and honest disclaimer before we get to the steps:

Since I’m running a digital marketing funnel and copywriting agency – OF COURSE, I’m an affiliate of most of these softwares that I’m recommending. I do run an online business after all and optimizing online revenue streams online in addition to serving my customers, students and clients on the highest level is a constant focus ;).

In the past, we’ve heavily focused on promoting and recommending one specific funnel software. About a year ago though, we’ve realized that it wouldn’t be ethical of us anymore to recommend this one to clients where a different tool is much better fitted!

As such, I’ve started to advise my clients objectively on what funnel software is the right one for them as well as WHY.

I’m hoping that this blog post will do it for you.

THE FOLLOWING LISTS ARE BASED OFF OF WHAT WE FOUND FOR OUR CLIENTS IN THE PAST TO BE DECIDING FACTORS TO CHOOSE A FUNNEL SOFTWARE OVER ANOTHER.

THE LISTS DO NOT FEATURE ALL FEATURES OF EACH SOFTWARE. FOR THIS AND TO EVALUATE FURTHER FEATURES THAT MIGHT BE OF IMPORTANCE TO YOUR BUSINESS, CHECK OUT THE SOFTWARE’S WEBSITE ITSELF!

Let’s get started:

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 1: SIMVOLY

Based out of Bulgaria, Simvoly takes an eCommerce focus when it comes to funnel marketing.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Integrates with pretty much every payment merchant processing software out there (such as Auhorize.net).

+ Integrates with Shopify.

+ Optimized entire eCommerce site solutions as well (such as CRM, checkout tools, etc.).

+ Affordable (compared to the other funnel softwares listed).

+ Best for eCommerce entrepreneurs.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 2: CLICKFUNNELS

Based out of the U.S., Clickfunnels has been around for a while now, created by the marketing guru Russell Brunson and his co-founder.

I’d say that even though, Clickfunnels has a tech co-founder, the main focus of the marketing software had from the get-go a marketing focus – as opposed to an engineering one. You can feel this in the way it is used and the backend. Some of the other software on the list has a heavy engineer- and tech-focus. Because of that, they work smoother.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Focused on letting you create seriously all types of sales and marketing funnels easily.

+ Best for high converting sales funnels.

+ Missing CRM capability (there is a CRM capability but compared to some of the other funnel software I mention here such as GoHighLevel, it’s pretty basic).

+ Can be bad when SEO is a focus in your marketing.

+ Has a built-in email marketing solution (under the premium feature) but compared to an actual email marketing software, say such as ActiveCampaign, it’s a bit… clunky.

+ Particularly great for webinar sales funnels with it integrated capabilities.

+ Also recommend it for SaaS companies and their lead generation efforts.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 3: KAJABI

Based out of the U.S. as well, out of sunny California, comes Kajabi. Kajabi has been around longer than Clickfunnels actually but until recently, their marketing efforts haven’t been as strong as Clickfunnel’s. Now, they stepped up their game and their software.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Mainly focused on online course creators, digital product creations, and those with membership sites.

+ Kajabi software is focused on aesthetics, more so than the other contenders of this article.

+ Also has the option to utilize their email marketing software, Pipelines which includes prewritten marketing emails for you.

+ The focus is on creating a seamless content delivery.

+ It uses Wistia as part of its video hosting program which is a huge plus because Wistia is widely regarded as one of THE safest video hosting softwares out there.

+ You can do cool things inside your membership site like having people ask questions directly on a video lesson as opposed to having to email you, post in a FB group, etc. That’s also different from the other funnel softwares.

+ Great for entrepreneurs that are digital educators in their area of expertise, particularly those who have or want to have membership sites.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 4: GO HIGH LEVEL

GoHighLevel is a relatively newer software but we (and our clients) love it because for numerous reasons:

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Multiplatform follow up campaigns – campaigns that include text messages, email, Facebook messenger and voice mail drops all in one place.

+ Awesome CRM capability with the ability to build out multiple outreach pipelines.

+ For agency owners, you can clone entire accounts between clients with everything already being set up. What a time saver!

+ Ability to build sales funnels with a drag and drop page builder – similar to Clickfunnels, only you can also build websites if you prefer for better SEO.

+ Ability to build membership areas similar to Kajabi

+ Built-in Calendars and calendar integration so more people can book appointments and you won’t have to “glue” together with a calendar service like Calendly.

+ Reporting and attribution reporting so you can see your most profitable ads.

+ Best for agency owners and heavily lead focused industries and businesses. Also, for SaaS companies that are heavily focused on having a great CRM integrated with their funnel software.

+ Not recommend it for eCommerce businesses.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 5: CARTFLOWS

For those of you who have a well-visited blog or who have their site currently launched on WordPress, this software might be a good option for you.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Affordable (compared to the other funnel softwares listed).

+ Best for people with a high-traffic blog or those who love WordPress and have been using it for years.

+ A bit clunky to use as opposed to other drag-and-drop funnel softwares and aesthetics is not necessarily their focus, it’s more usability.

+ I typically like to recommend this one for bloggers because you’re able to keep everything in house so to speak.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 6: GROOVE FUNNELS

GrooveFunnels at the time of this article is a new funnel software that was in beta up until now and is just launching.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ Provides all the other tech capabilities, similarly to Clickfunnels.

+ New software so might be experiencing growing pains with support and some tech glitches

+ If you love building your funnels off of existing templates, one thing to note is that their database for now still is fairly limited as they’re just launching.

+ I’d stir aware from it if you have an eCommerce business because it doesn’t seem per se to focus itself on that business sector (even though, they have capabilities to build eCommerce pages).

+ If you’re just starting out in your business, have a relatively small budget, GrooveFunnels might be a great option for you because you can get a lot of i.e. Clickfunnels’ features for free or super cheap as of this moment.

FUNNEL SOFTWARE OPTION 7: LEADPAGES

I’d say that Leadpages has become one of the ‘less cooler’ Funnel softwares out there at this day and age. It’s been around for a while but the company has been lacking a bit with innovation and adapting their marketing to the industry’s fast changes.

Deciding Factors & Other Key Things To Know:

+ From all the other options, lead pages is mostly focused on landing pages and landing page conversions.

+ It doesn’t have native course creation tools for online course and product creators.

+ Fast loading speeds.

+ There are endless template options available to use for you to start your funnel with.
